Safe Youth Safe Communities initiative

The Safe Youth Safe Communities initiative, Pasifika LIPI, provides a holistic response to youth violence with a focus on young people aged 10 to 17 years who are at risk of being involved in violent behavior or assessed as having an increased likelihood of being involved in violent behavior. We are funded by the Department of Communities and are partnered between the Inala Youth Service, The Spot at Logan and The Base at Goodna.

The Safe Youth Safe Communities Project covers the areas of Logan, Ipswich and Inala. We consist of a Program Manager and four Outreach Workers working Friday and Saturday afternoons to late nights which provides increased access to the young person and their families. As we work these hours it affords us the ability to gather information regarding “HotSpots” in all three areas and use this information to reduce the effects of youth violence by providing an outreach service to these identified “HotSpots”. We provide case management, counselling, and mediation, referral to other agencies, cultural appropriate activities, self esteem and motivation programs.
